Why we closed the showroom and came to your living room instead

On 31 March 2026 the Berkshire Fireplace Centre showroom on Oxford Road closed for the last time. We have not gone anywhere — we have changed how we work, and we want to explain it properly.

Instead of asking you to come to us, we now come to you. A consultation is a visit to your home to assess the space, the chimney and the style of the house, with detailed brochures and fireplace samples in hand, so we can help you choose the design, fuel type and installation that suit it.

It is a better way to choose. A surround looks different under showroom lighting than it does against your own wall, next to your own floor, in your own light. At home you see the sample where it will actually live — and the practical questions about the chimney, the hearth and the wall are answered at the same visit, before you have committed to anything.

It also means the whole 20-mile radius gets the same service. Newbury, Henley and Ascot are no longer a drive to a showroom away; the range comes to you.

What has not changed: over 25 years of experience, the same Gas Safe and HETAS registered engineers, and the same phone number.
