Case study · Cookham, Maidenhead
Sourcing an electric fire for a Victorian fireplace in Cookham
An electric fire for an original Victorian fireplace, where very few suitable models were available.

The brief
Jennie wanted an electric fire fitted into her Victorian fireplace. Very few suitable fires were available, so the first job was sourcing one that would fit.
Why Victorian fireplaces are tricky
Victorian openings are often small and rarely perfectly square, and the fireplace itself is usually worth keeping. Finding an electric fire that fits the opening, suits the period and can be installed without harming original features narrows the choice considerably.
The installation
Graham carried out the installation. In Jennie’s words it was not a straightforward job — but he saw it through.
Today I had an electric fire installed into a Victorian fireplace. Very few around and Berkshire Fireplace Centre sourced me one and installed it today. Graham could not have been more helpful — it was not a straightforward installation but he never gave up! Cannot thank Graham and the team enough.
